Designation: Professor & Head, Structural Engineering Laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras
Education: BE (Civil) from College of Engineering, Pune (1987), MTech in Structural Engineering from IIT Bombay (1992), Doctor of Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan (1996).
Research Interests: Seismic design and testing, Structural dynamics, Steel structures, Earthquake-resistant design, and Design of steel bridge piers.
Experience: Prior to joining IIT Madras, worked as a research engineer at NKK Corporation, Japan, focusing on seismic design for the Japanese Ministry of Construction. Joined IIT Madras in 1998 and has been actively involved in teaching, research, and consultancy.
Achievements
- Co-authored three volumes titled "Teaching Resources for the Design of Steel Structures" for university faculty.
- Contributed extensively to the revision of the Indian Code IS 800.
- Guided several MS and Ph.D. students, contributing to research in seismic design and structural testing.
- Published numerous research articles in national and international journals and conferences.
- Active involvement in conducting short-term courses and workshops for university faculty and consultants.
