Education: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, University of Alabama at Birmingham (USA); Master’s from National University of Singapore; Bachelor's from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai.
Experience: Prior to joining IIT Hyderabad, Prof. Madhavan worked as a Structural Engineer at Alabama Power Company, Birmingham, and is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Alabama, USA.
Achievements
- Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), USA, and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), London.
- First Indian to be elected as a Fellow of ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute (SEI).
- Editorial Board member of the Journal of Structures and Associate Editor for ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering.
- Published about 60 peer-reviewed journal articles in reputed international journals.
- Member of the ASCE SEI Technical Administrative Committee on Metals and Cold-Formed Steel Members Committee.
