Designation: Dean (Infrastructure), Professor of Structural Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Delhi

Research Interests: Performance-based earthquake design, Hybrid simulation and testing, Seismic fragility assessment, Passive vibration control, Fiber-reinforced concrete, High-strength materials, Steel-concrete composite structures, Seismic strengthening techniques, Structural fire engineering.

Education: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur (2008), specializing in earthquake-resistant design of structures.

Experience: Prof. Sahoo has been a professor at IIT Delhi since 2010 and has a rich background in earthquake engineering, including post-doctoral work at the University of Texas, Arlington. He has worked in several academic and research capacities across institutions like IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Delhi.

Achievements
  • Recipient of the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (2022) in Engineering Sciences.
  • Elected Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), Institute of Engineers (India), and ISET.
  • Received numerous awards such as the INAE Young Engineer Award, IEI Young Engineer Award, and SERB Young Scientist Award.
  • Published more than 250 research articles and holds seven patents on earthquake vibration control devices.
